Project Description
Solutions Technology was contracted to design and supply three self contained, transportable polishing units for SASOL. The units were designed to rigorous internationally accepted petrochemical industry specifications and design codes.
The three regenerable units consisted of a number of manual and actuated valves, pressure vessels, piping and heat exchangers. The units were specifically designed and constructed to fit into standard containers for ease of transport and were provided with power generation facilities to enable them to be totally self-contained. In order to meet the stringent space constraints of the containers, a 3-D CAD model of the units was developed by the draughting office and this model was subjected to a rigorous model review with the SASOL personnel.
A self contained PLC based control system was incorporated into each unit to allow for a fully automatic regeneration operation. The units were successfully completed and certified in November 2001 and commissioned in January 2002.
